Telegram News Corrections Across Platforms: An X/VK Runbook

To correct news published from Telegram across X and VK, fix the authoritative source, issue a clearly labeled correction, and check every destination that carried the error. A source edit and a new correction notice are different operations. RedFox Auto Forward Telegram (@AutoForwardNew_Bot) can distribute the approved notice through your Publish Tasks, but do not assume editing or deleting the Telegram original repairs all existing copies.
Product identity: RedFox is the team. The historical @Auto_Forward_Messages_Bot has moved to @AutoForwardNew_Bot. Auto-Bot.io is a separate editorial publisher, not the bot’s developer or operator.

First decide: update, correction or clarification?
| Label | Use it when | What the reader needs |
|---|---|---|
| Update | The reported situation changed after an accurate earlier bulletin | The new fact, its effective/reporting time and the source |
| Correction | Your published bulletin contained a factual error | What was wrong, what is correct, which bulletin is affected and when you corrected it |
| Clarification | The wording needs context without concealing a factual error | The added context and the earlier wording it addresses |
| Withdrawal | The bulletin cannot stand as published | A prominent withdrawal notice, an editor’s decision and any appropriate replacement—not silent deletion alone |
Swipe the matrix horizontally to read all columns.
Do not call an incorrect fact an “update” to avoid acknowledging it. Trusting News recommends clear, public correction policies, explicit labels, understandable error descriptions and platform-specific placement practices. Your newsroom should set the policy and owner; the bot is not the editor who decides which label applies.
Three practical versions of the same local bulletin
Fictional illustration only: Northbank, the library notice and all times below are invented to demonstrate a workflow. Replace bracketed public links with real source links. Do not send these examples as actual local news.
1. Original bulletin
NB-LIB-001 — Northbank library entrance notice. October 1, 2026, 09:00 UTC+01:00: the east entrance is closed for inspection. Use the west entrance. Source: library notice, checked 08:55 UTC+01:00: [public notice URL].
2. Update if the situation genuinely changes
UPDATE — NB-LIB-001, October 1, 2026, 12:05 UTC+01:00. The library says the east entrance reopened at 12:00 UTC+01:00. Our 09:00 closure bulletin was accurate then; the entrance instruction has now changed. Source: [updated public notice URL].
3. Correction if the original named the wrong entrance
CORRECTION — NB-LIB-001, October 1, 2026, 09:25 UTC+01:00. Our 09:00 bulletin incorrectly said the east entrance was closed. The library notice says the west entrance is closed; use the east entrance. We have corrected the source bulletin. Source checked 09:20 UTC+01:00: [public notice URL]. We regret the error.
The update and correction are alternative scenarios, not one real chronology. The editorial ID is a label you create, not a built-in RedFox feature. Keep both the original reporting time and correction time: replacing one timestamp with another hides which version readers saw.
Shorter correction prepared for X:
CORRECTION, NB-LIB-001 (Oct 1, 09:25 UTC+01:00): our 09:00 post named the wrong entrance. WEST is closed; use EAST. Library source: [public notice URL]. We regret the error.
Check the final outgoing text and real link before publishing. If the correction will not fit the destination’s limits, use a concise correction plus a public page containing the full explanation. Do not depend on automatic summarization or a thread to finish the correction.
Treat each existing destination post separately
| Location | Recommended action | What closes the check |
|---|---|---|
| Authoritative Telegram bulletin or linked story | Fix the fact and add a visible correction note. Prepare the approved new correction notice. | The corrected wording, original time, correction time and source are visible. |
| Existing X post published through the route | Publish a standalone correction to the same affected audience. Where permitted, add a native reply linking the correction to the original. Do not plan around automatic in-place editing. | Open the original and correction links; confirm the correct account, wording and visible connection between them. |
| Existing VK wall post | Inspect the exact wall/post. If authorized editing is available, amend it with an explicit correction note; publish a fresh correction where the error’s audience needs to see it. | Read the amended post and/or new correction at the intended profile/community, including link and media context. |
| A destination that did not receive the original | Do not send an unexplained correction about a post it never saw. Decide whether it needs a complete corrected bulletin. | Its record distinguishes “not originally published” from “correction still pending.” |
| External reshared copy you do not control | Record it and use your newsroom’s authorized correction-contact process if needed. | Separate “notice sent” from “publisher confirmed correction.” Your task cannot recall third-party copies. |

Provider behavior is not the same as a task setting. The RedFox X guide exposes Edit and Delete event options in Advanced Settings. That documents event handling, not universal successful destination editing. Implementation inspection on October 1, 2026 found the X publishing edit path does not implement in-place editing. Therefore use a new approved correction as the dependable editorial plan, and verify it—do not treat a checked Edit option as proof the old X post changed.
VK provides a wall.edit API method, and RedFox’s inspected VK path includes text edit/delete operations. That is implementation evidence, not a live test of your task or an assurance that images, permissions, mappings or every existing post will behave identically. If you intend to rely on source-edit handling, test the exact controlled route and inspect the original VK post. Keep the new-notice fallback ready.
Deletion is not a general recall mechanism. An authorized editor may remove a harmful post under the newsroom’s policy, but deleting the Telegram source does not prove X/VK or reshared copies disappeared. Preserve the appropriate correction record without publicly reproducing sensitive material.
A runbook for the editor on duty
- Identify the exact error. Save the affected bulletin ID and source/destination links in your restricted editorial record. Verify the correct information against the original authority or reporting evidence, not against another repost.
- Contain further spread. Stop the affected Publish Task if the source may send more wrong content. Do not alter unrelated tasks or assume stopping removes existing posts. Review scheduled work, if used, before resuming.
- Approve one correction. Name the responsible editor. State the wrong and correct facts, the affected bulletin, source-check time and correction time with timezone. Avoid repeating unnecessary personal information.
- Fix the authoritative source. Add the visible correction note; do not silently overwrite the history. This operation is separate from distributing the new notice.
- Distribute deliberately. If the affected task is stopped, keep it stopped until the source and destination are safe. Distribute the correction through a separate authorized route or native destination action; alternatively, restart the safe route before posting the new correction message. Do not assume a message posted while stopped will be replayed. On a running route, publish the approved correction as a new source message to the destinations that need it. RedFox’s documented X flow processes new messages after creation; older history is not automatically replayed. If the original routes have different audiences, use the appropriate approved source for each.
- Inspect old and new destination posts. Check the correct X account or VK wall, the full correction, working source link and any amended text/media. Use an authorized native destination action when the required old-post change is unavailable or failed.
- Close by destination, not by task status. Record the observed result and check time. Keep unverified locations pending; assign their next action. Resume normal publishing only after the source and route are appropriate again; a controlled restart to distribute the approved correction is the separate step described above.
Put this into practice: before creating a task, choose a controlled Telegram source and destination: new tasks are active on creation. Open the RedFox Web app and configure one Publish Task for that approved source, then rehearse an original bulletin and a new correction there before using the workflow for your community. This is a publishing route, not automated fact verification or a per-story moderation decision.
Keep a correction ledger small enough to use
A spreadsheet or your existing editorial system is enough. Record one row per destination, not just one row per story.
| Field | What to record |
|---|---|
| Bulletin and versions | Editorial ID, original time, approved corrected wording and correction time |
| Evidence and owner | Authority/source URL, source-check time, approver and publication permissions |
| Destination | Exact account/community and original post URL; whether it actually carried the error |
| Action | New notice, native reply, amended post or policy-authorized removal; correction URL |
| Verification | Checked time, checker and observed result; pending owner/action when incomplete |
Swipe the matrix horizontally to read all columns.
Illustrative status: NB-LIB-001 / VK community / new correction visible; original not yet checked / pending editor follow-up. That is more useful than “done” after a send. Never put API tokens, login codes or private source conversations in this ledger.
The RJI case study explains why tracking republication and notifying all affected outlets matters. This ledger applies that editorial principle to Telegram, X and VK; it is not a claim that the product tracks every reshared copy.
Questions before you close a correction
Is editing the Telegram original enough?
No. It fixes that source version, but a correction is complete only when the required destination actions have been inspected. Provider permissions, supported operations and route state differ.
What if a request timed out?
Inspect the exact destination first. A timeout can leave the publication outcome uncertain. Do not repeatedly repost until you know whether the correction already appeared; record the uncertainty and next authorized action.
Can the bot decide whether a tip is true?
This runbook leaves verification, publication approval and the update-versus-correction decision with your editor. Automation distributes the approved message; it does not establish the truth of its contents.
Where do I configure the providers?
Use the X setup guide or VK setup guide. For source selection and bulletin design, read publishing local Telegram news to X/VK. The publishing hub covers other destinations; do not copy X/VK lifecycle assumptions to them.
Give one editor ownership of the full correction
Manage the route in the Web app, iOS or Android. The current bot is another entry point. RedFox confirms active tasks run in its cloud without leaving the management interface open; source access and destination authorization must remain valid.
Next step: choose one controlled route, write your correction template and rehearse checking both the original and correction post. See the product overview for broader capabilities.
Evidence checked October 1, 2026: first-party setup documentation, provider documentation and read-only implementation inspection, with owner-confirmed product facts. No new live X/VK edit, deletion or bulletin-delivery test was performed for this article. The templates and ledger are editorial recommendations, not testimonials or performance measurements.
Start with the interface that suits you
Open Publish, choose one destination and set up one clearly named route. Verify the output before expanding.
