Telegram Footer Filter Blocks the Whole Post, Not Just a Line

If a footer filter makes a whole Telegram post disappear when you only wanted one line gone, the rule is probably doing what it was built to do: decide whether the message is forwarded at all. In RedFox Auto Forward Telegram, a matching Header/Footer Keyword Filter blacklist keeps the post out. If the post should arrive without that text, the documented tool is Replace, and the footer keyword has to stop acting as a blocking rule first.
This guide is for an operator whose existing RedFox Auto Forward Telegram (@AutoForwardNew_Bot) route already delivers some posts, but whose announcements with a recurring footer never reach the destination. It shows how to tell a correct exclusion from a wrong goal, then how to test one change privately. It is not about the native “Forwarded from” label or text you add to every message. The previous bot has moved to @AutoForwardNew_Bot; use this current handle to access RedFox Auto Forward Telegram. RedFox supplies the product and its documentation; Auto-Bot.io publishes this independent guide.
The featured image is a conceptual illustration of two different outcomes, not product UI or a forwarding result. The specimens below are a reader-run plan based on documentation checked on October 29, 2026, not a test we ran on a live account.
1. Decide what should happen to the post
“Remove the footer” can mean four different jobs. Each belongs to a different setting, and the documentation describes them separately.
| If you want to… | Use this, and what the documentation says |
|---|---|
| Not forward posts that carry a certain header or footer | Header/Footer Keyword Filter, blacklist mode. Messages containing a blacklisted keyword in the header or footer are not forwarded. |
| Forward only posts that carry a certain header or footer | The same filter, whitelist mode. Only a message with a matching keyword is forwarded; a message without a match is blocked. |
| Forward the post but delete a phrase or line from it | Replace. It changes message content before it is forwarded; its types include removing lines that contain keywords. |
| Add your own wording before or after every post | Add Header or Add Footer in task settings. The task settings reference lists them as text added to each message on that task. |
A fifth control sounds similar but is different again: Show Header Forwarder prefixes messages with “Forwarded from …”. The same settings page warns that, when it is on, Reply, Edit, Replace and translation will not work. Our forward header guide covers that attribution choice.
2. Why a matching footer removes the entire post
The Header/Footer page describes the blacklist in three steps: check whether the header or footer contains any blacklisted keyword; if yes, block; if no, forward normally. Its own example footer list, such as “Join @” or “Click here”, ends with the result: “Any message ending with these patterns is blocked.” Nothing on that page describes a mode that strips the matching line and sends the rest.
So the surprising result can have a simple cause: a promotional footer that you wanted to delete was also listed as a reason to exclude the post. The whole announcement, including the useful part, is then absent. That is an expectation mismatch before it is a malfunction.
The same page gives other behavior worth keeping in mind while diagnosing:
- Edges, not the whole message. The header means roughly the first 2–3 lines and the footer roughly the last 2–3, and the page says the exact count may vary by implementation. Do not treat 2–3 as a guaranteed boundary.
- Short posts. For a single-line message, the whole message is both header and footer. A two- or three-line post can be almost entirely “footer.”
- Captions. If a media message has a caption, the caption text is checked.
- Matching mode. Plain text mode is a substring search, so a short keyword matches inside longer text. Regex and Ignore Case are separate options, and the page recommends specific keywords over broad ones.
- Combined rules. When you configure several header and footer conditions, all of them must be met for a message to forward.
3. Find out why this post matched
Put the missing post next to the filter lists before changing anything. This table maps what you can see to the most likely reading. It is a triage order, not a verdict about your account.
| What you observe | Likely reading and first check |
|---|---|
| The whole post is absent, and its last lines contain a word from your footer blacklist. | Working as documented. Compare the actual last lines with every footer keyword, including short ones that match as part of longer words. |
| The whole post is absent, but no footer blacklist word is visible. | A header or footer whitelist may require a match the post does not have. Open both whitelist lists; every configured condition must pass. |
| The post is only one to three lines long. | Most or all of it may count as the footer, so keywords in the visible body of a short post can still qualify. |
| Your keyword sits in the middle of a longer post, yet the post is absent. | The edge may be wider than you assumed, or another rule is responsible. Run the optional edge probe below and check ordinary keyword and type filters on the same task. |
| The source shows a “Forwarded from” credit line. | The documentation says that text may count as header or footer text if the credit is retained as text. Test with a fresh post; do not assume native attribution is, or is not, matched. |
| The post arrives but the footer is still there. | A Replace rule did not match, was not active on this task, or Show Header Forwarder is on. Check the exact source text, the rule’s task association and that setting. |
If none of these explains the result, keep one fresh sample and your rule settings together for support. RedFox’s page asks for the filter configuration (keywords, regex, options), a sample message and the expected versus actual behavior. Redact private content before sharing.
4. Choose one policy for the marker
Every footer phrase needs one answer to this question: should a post that carries it be dropped, or delivered without it? The same phrase cannot be both.
- Dropped. Keep the keyword in the Header/Footer blacklist. A missing post is the intended outcome. If the filter is catching too many posts, narrow the keyword instead of removing the protection. For a rule that matches longer words than you meant, see our whole-word rule guide.
- Delivered without it. Take that keyword out of the footer blacklist and use Replace for the unwanted text. The Replace documentation lists Basic replacement, for changing or removing a specific phrase, and Remove Lines By Keywords, which removes any line containing one of your keywords. A line-number rule is positional, so it fits only when the unwanted line always sits at the same number.
Two cautions apply to the second policy. Remove only text you are permitted to omit: a footer may carry a required credit, sponsorship notice or redistribution condition that must stay. And a line rule deletes the whole line, so use it only when the marker is on its own line. If a useful sentence shares that line, a different rule is needed. The Replace management page also says the team does not support regex and leaves its use to you.
Documented examples sometimes replace links or mentions with a sample handle. Substitute your own approved text instead of copying a handle from an example.
5. Run a private before-and-after check
Use a source and destination you control, with harmless text you may post. Build a separate test task whose relevant rules match the live task, and do not use the audience-facing destination. Confirm that the Header/Footer add-on is available in your account; the page describes it as an add-on you unlock under My Addons. If Replace is part of the test, confirm that Show Header Forwarder is off for the test task.
Before you change anything, write down the current Header/Footer keyword lists and options, the other filters on the task, every Replace rule associated with it, and the Show Header Forwarder state. This is your rollback record.
Isolate the comparison on the private task only. Record and temporarily disable Duplicate Filters and other rules or transformations that could reject or change these harmless specimens, apart from the two footer keywords being tested. Leave live protections untouched. If you cannot isolate those influences, keep the result inconclusive rather than attributing it to the footer rule. Keep the same source, destination, sender eligibility and header requirements across phases.
Record the task’s operating window, configured source/target delays and any scheduled work. Choose an observation checkpoint after the configured delay and operating window have allowed the batch to run; wait for the corresponding C control and distinguish pending or error states from an intentional block. There is no universal wait that proves an absent post was filtered. If a batch is still queued, delayed or errored, stop the comparison rather than moving to the next phase.
Send these fictional specimens as new posts. Each displayed line break below must be a real newline in the source message, not a slash or a line produced by screen wrapping. In T, the promo marker must be on its own actual line. Use a distinct run label such as C-A, C-B or C-C for each phase, changing only that label while preserving the tested markers and line structure. A nonce does not guarantee bypass of every duplicate rule; duplicate suppression must still be isolated or accounted for. The expectations below are a reader-run plan, not observed results.
| Sample and post text | Expected readings |
|---|---|
| C, control: ROUTE CHECK C-A: workshop starts at 18:00. Bring a draft page. Thanks for reading. | Before: arrives. After change 1: arrives. After change 2: arrives, unchanged. |
| T, target: ROUTE CHECK T-A: workshop moved to Room 4. Bring a draft page. Partner promo: example discount. | Before: absent if the filter holds “Partner promo”. After change 1: arrives with the promo line still present. After change 2: arrives without the promo line. |
| N, retained exclusion: ROUTE CHECK N-A: unrelated advert. Ad slot: example sponsor. | Before: absent. After change 1: still absent. After change 2: still absent. |
For this example, the footer blacklist holds both “Partner promo” and a different keyword, “Ad slot”. N checks whether this particular retained exclusion still behaves as expected for the specimen; it does not prove the whole filter or every exclusion is intact.
Optional edge probe, before change 1. With competing header rules isolated on the private task, send two six-line posts that differ only in where the marker sits: on line 6 in one, on line 3 in the other. If only the line-6 post is blocked, position matters for your setup. If both are blocked, the edge may be wider than you assumed or another rule is involved; record that and check the other filters. This reports what your task did on that day. It does not establish an exact line count.
- Require the complete baseline. At the recorded observation checkpoint, C must arrive unchanged, while T and N must be absent as predicted under the isolated conditions. If C is missing, T or N already arrives, or a result is pending/error, stop and investigate before changing a keyword. The footer diagnosis has not been reproduced. Use the setup walkthrough if the route control fails.
- Change 1: remove only “Partner promo” from the footer blacklist on the test task. Leave “Ad slot” and every other setting alone. Send fresh C, T and N. At the same observation checkpoint, require C to arrive unchanged, T to newly arrive with its promo line intact, and N to remain absent. With the recorded influences isolated, that before-and-after supports the footer keyword as the cause for this sample and supports preservation of this specific exclusion—not every rule or future post. If T is still absent, another rule or edge is involved; restore your recorded list and keep investigating. If N arrives, the change was broader than intended; restore it.
- Change 2: add one scoped Replace rule. Choose Remove Lines By Keywords, enter “Partner promo”, and select only the test task in Apply For Task. The documentation says a blank field applies the rule to all tasks, so never leave it empty. Send fresh C, T and N. T should now arrive with the body intact and without the promo line; C should be unchanged; N should remain absent. If the line is still there, check the exact text, the rule’s task association and Show Header Forwarder.
- Roll back anything unexplained. Restore the recorded keyword lists and deactivate or delete the test rule before trying another idea. Stacking edits hides which one caused the result.
Avoid putting the same marker in both the footer filter and a footer-removing Replace rule and relying on the result. The pages I read do not state whether the filter or Replace is applied first, so a combined rule would depend on an undocumented order. Removing the keyword from the filter first, as in change 1, avoids that question.
6. Apply the result to the live task carefully
Transfer the accepted configuration only after the private run behaves as expected. Coordinate a pause of the intended live task while saving the two validated changes, then read back both the retained footer exclusions and the explicitly scoped Replace rule before resuming. This avoids intentionally exposing the untrimmed intermediate output to the audience. A pause does not prove queued work was cancelled; account for pending work before resuming. Keep any diagnostic posts on the private route unless audience-facing tests are separately authorized. Do not switch the whole add-on off, because that removes exclusions that were working, and do not choose Apply For All Tasks for a one-route problem.
The pages I read do not describe recovering a post that was already skipped, so treat earlier misses as a separate manual decision. A passing private sample shows how that test route handled those specimens. It is not a promise about every future message or account.
7. If the symptom is different
- Photos or captions vanish while text arrives: check type filters and Cleaner.
- The words arrive but a hidden link still points to the source: replace the link destination.
- You are unsure which “Forwarded from” label should appear: choose the display mode.
Frequently asked questions
Does Header/Footer Keyword Filter delete the footer?
The page describes blacklist and whitelist modes that decide whether a message is forwarded. It documents no mode that removes the matching line and forwards the rest. Use Replace for that goal.
How many lines count as the header or footer?
Roughly two to three at each end, and the page notes the exact count may vary. In a one-line message the whole message is both. Test with your own posts instead of relying on a fixed number.
Does the filter or Replace run first?
The documentation I read does not say. Design the rules so the outcome does not depend on the order, as the two-change check above does.
Will Replace work if Show Header Forwarder is on?
The Replace and task settings pages say it will not. Turn that option off on the test task before judging a Replace rule, or resolve the attribution requirement another way.
Next step: choose drop or edit, then change one thing
Decide whether the footer marks a post to exclude or text to remove, record your current settings, and change one setting at a time on a private test task. That separates a correct whole-post block from a rule aimed at the wrong job.
Use the official Web app, iOS app or Android app, whichever suits you. Web and the mobile apps are the recommended fuller-management surfaces, while the Telegram bot offers quick entry; the Replace guide describes the mobile and Web dashboards, and labels may differ between surfaces. Active tasks run in RedFox’s cloud without keeping the management interface open.
Review the RedFox Auto Forward Telegram product and official entry points, then adjust one rule on a test task.
Test One Rule Before You Change the Live Task
Use the official management entry points to separate a whole-post filter from a text edit before changing a live route.
